OmniOn Power is currently hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer. As a Lead Mechanical Engineer - Power Electronics, you will design innovative power supply products for datacenters, industrial and telecommunications from concept realization through introduction of products into high volume production. These will include New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), resolving customer issues, and sustaining existing products. Reporting to the R&D/ Senior Technical Manager, this position will be expected to demonstrate leadership globally.
Your responsibilities include:
Develop new products, thermal analysis and simulation, design documentation, as well as testing and characterization of the design in the lab with the help of your technical support staff
Lead investigations and qualifications of new design technologies and power electronics packaging techniques to improve power density and efficiency
Create CAD models in a linked model environment using CREO
Create definitions of parts, sub-assemblies, and top-level end items in the form of 2D drawings, 3D models, tolerance stack-ups to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection
Facilitate design reviews for printed circuit boards and assemblies during the NPI process
Ensure compliance with established design guidelines for thermal management, printed circuit board design, safety, manufacturing efficiency, quality and reliability
Prepare invention disclosures to protect intellectual property
Mentor junior engineers
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 7 years of engineering design experience, with focus on power electronics applications
Desired Requirements:
Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Proven experience in the design and manufacture of AC/DC or DC/DC power electronics products including PCB layout, design for safety and manufacturing
PTC CREO 3D modeling / Windchill PDMLink
ICEPAK (ANSYS CFD) thermal analysis
Conduction, convection (passive and active), and radiation thermal optimization techniques using modeling techniques and CFD thermal simulation
A thorough understanding of heat management including heatsink and coldplate design and fan selection, as well as flow and thermal measurement techniques
Performance optimization including efficiency, power density, and scalability
Knowledge of industry standard mechanical Design Practices & Design for Manufacturing guidelines
Knowledge of IPC 9592B - Requirements for Power Conversion Devices for the Computer and Telecommunications Industries
Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to drive projects to completion
